One 73 year old’s experience

As you will read, C is 73 years old..

Day after signing up he sent me this:

Hi Gil,

… A bit of background about me. I’m a seventy three year old living in Melbourne Australia priding myself on my fitness thinking I’m beating the odds having prostate cancer in remission for the last five years.

Then I was hit by this over four weeks ago, not knowing such debilitating pain exsisted.

Having seen three doctors and an x-ray all saying its going to take time up to three months.

At this stage I would say I’m 40% out of the woods. I feel slightly insecure in my lumber region, and an anoying pain in my left leg from the groin to below the knee cap that can vary in intensity.

My x-ray shows marked reductionin height of the L3/4 and mild reduction in height of L5/S1 bisc is shown. To sum up its been indicated to be a muscle spasm. Ill be very interested to here from you.

Kind regards C.

A few days later, I got this…

HI Gil,

Have just competed a poor copy of your floor exercises a couple each one.

Made me sweat a little, and sent me straight to the toilet, so it acted as a good laxative.

I can’t pin down what caused the onset of this unless it happened whilst I was mowing the grass – I do tend to forget I’m not as capable and do one arm lifting tricks when perhaps I should be using two.

It started as a slight pain over the left buttock and over four days increased to being crippling into the buttock rushing me off to hospital. Thats where the doctor told me this is going to take a long time to go away prescribing pain killers. You know what they do to you.!!!

So I’m looking forward to my next sweat and laxative tomorrow. Will let you know on my progress.

Kind regards C Melbourne

Three weeks later…

Hi Gil

Have been doing the exercises since you mailed them.

Happy to say I’ve been off the pain killers (tramadol) for about twelve days, off the coloxyl (laxatives) for about eight days and off the anti-inflammatories (dilofenac) six days.

I’ve had very little or mostly no back pain since starting the exercises. From my groin to my knee I have discomfort making me less likely to do things. There’s no intensity, just damned annoying.

This seems to be just marking time at this stage and I’m in a hurry! ! Must say had rotten experiences with the medications particularly the anti-inflamm which to-day I think I’m feeling better. I hope you can relate to some of this and give me a feedback.

Kind regards
C

Pretty good, off the drugs and no more back pain after three weeks.

This Deep Stretch Relieves Sciatica

One major cause of sciatica is a tight periformis muscle deep in the buttock.  This can be easily fixed.  Watch 10 seconds of the video below.

From 23 seconds to 34 seconds, the woman in this video does a good stretch for sciatica.

Cross your ankle over your knee and lean back supporting yourself on your hands as she does here.

In the rest of the video, she does a very intense stretch.  So do that only if you don’t feel anything when doing the stretch above.

Let me know how you are feeling.
